A neighbourhood repair cafe opens on the first Saturday of each month. Volunteers help visitors repair small household items, including lamps and clothes. Visitors pay only for replacement parts. The organisers ask people to stay while their item is being repaired so that they can learn a useful skill. Large electrical appliances are not accepted because the room has limited space. Although the cafe was originally planned as a three-month trial, it is now a regular event. The organisers record the number of items repaired, but they have not measured how much waste the cafe prevents.
